Lumberjack Birthday Party

What a perfect theme for the twins 10th birthday celebration. I will say it was quite the challenge trying to find buffalo check in the middle of the summer for the fall birthday bash, but with a lot of persistence and many google searches I was able to find enough to pull it off. Of course the week after the party the stores where filled with buffalo check. Go figure...and I laughed my head off this past Christmas as well. Everywhere I turned buffalo check...

First and foremost, "the invitation". I was able to find the perfect invitation courtesy of Vista Print. It suited the theme perfectly. Now if only I would have had the buffalo check shirts while in the process of making the invites it would have looked so much better. However, it still worked.

I framed the invitation in a cute 5x7 picture frame that I had bought years ago at a dollar store. It fit the theme perfectly, don't you think.

Now that the invitations were done it was time to start putting things together. Backdrop for the dessert table was made out of recycled barn boards that came off the family farm. I love it so much I'm trying to find a place to put it in my home. Thinking behind my husbands bar, but that is another post. Perfectly rustic and the completely look was fabulous.

In between a party planning I had to have a photo shoot of the kids all dressed up in there buffalo check.

Ok, so back to the party.

Entrance into the party. Custom made banner to match the invitations (Vista Print), which now hangs in the boys room. Love it!!

Handcut and painted signs by myself .

Handmade ornaments out of maple for each guest. They adorned one of the Christmas trees this year beautifully.

Birch bundles tied with buffalo check.

The table that greeted you on arrival of the party, with photos from the photoshoot.

Large piece of birch bark that I used for everyone to sign their best wishes to the birthday boys.

The set up included red lanterns, cedar blocks holding the lanterns, galvanized lanterns, tin fold pie plates for our grub which was home made buns, chili, and baked beans. Yes a true lumberjack meal. A hot chocolate bar of various hot chocolate was a hit, however, the 30 degree temperatures in the middle of September was nice but did not fit the theme of flannel and hot chocolate. It still turned out wonderful.

Buffalo check napkins, runners completed the look on the table. Stump candles tied with buffalo check was  a perfect fit. Real pine branches grazed the table adding to the lumberjack theme along with pine cones. All guests received a personalized ornament with their names on one side and flipped onto the other side was the birth date.

Every 2nd chair was tied with burlap and a piece of real pine.

Stenciled "R" for our last name on each burlap runner.

Galvanized lanterns and gold air inflated balloons at the head of the table.

Sliced wood pieces for a wreath. Its home is now found on my mantle in the rec room. Perfectly rustic.

Burlap wall decor with the boys initials.

Banner made out of handcut birch pieces and buffalo check material. Burlap table runners each adorned with the initial of our last name.

100% pure maple syrup maple leaf lollipops placed in a birch log. A true Canadian experience.

And it wouldn't be a lumberjack birthday without a tree stump for a cake with a ax slicing the cake. The bark is made out of broken melted chocolate.

The dessert table with lots of goodies including sweddish berries, bear paws, and teddy grahams, keeping with the lumberjack/bear theme.

Smores on a stick.

Lumberjack flap jack cake for each of the birthday boys topped with bacon, maple flavored icing and drowning in maple syrup.

Adopt a bear, favor for the kids.

Wooly socks for the adults, again tied with a buffalo ribbon and wood sticker tags.

I absolutely love the branch pencils that were tied to each goody bag. I was so excited when I randomly found them.

Each TY bear had a personalized wood name tag tied with buffalo check fabric.

Happy 10th Birthday lumberjacks!!!
