Rustic "Pub" Birthday Party

The love of imported beer was the inspiration for this rustic pub theme. And what a better way to celebrate my husbands 45th birthday, surrounded by his closest friends. Rustic and recycled was pretty much everywhere throughout the décor. From a handmade bar made from barn boards to cedar wood candle centerpieces, right down to the branches suspended from the ceiling. It was down to earth, cozy and lots hints of fun...

To add a bit of humor, a tip can....I think more peanut shells went in it then tips!!!

The bar was full of yummy imported liquid.......The ON TAP sign was recycled from our daughters crib. Made a perfect chalkboard. The display of drinks was a vintage cooler, and the drinks were being chilled in Grannies old bread bowl and copper tub. Can't get anymore vintage then that!

The bar was handcrafted by myself using old barn boards and attached rusted out license plates. The bar stools cut from our firewood pile (notice how one is not straight, I swear there was no beverages consumed during the cutting). A hanging chandelier of lights over the bar once again created from recycled mason jars. Banner made by myself and will now be part of our home.

Close ups of stools. Vintage suitcases and boxes added to the décor beside the rustic bar.

Ok, so I couldn't do anything frilly in the ceiling and I had to do something, so branches it was with hanging mason jars. And if you didn't already guess, this is all in our garage.

The bar area. "Eat, Drink, Be Merry" reads on the banner. Bar/cruiser tables are covered old barrels with black tablecloths and a mini burlap runner. Peanuts sit on top of tables in galvinzed buckets.

Shelled peanuts and cedar wood coaster sat on bar tables. Coasters hand cut by me.

Burlap tied chairs and burlap table runner monogrammed with "R" our family initial.

Black charger plates, black napkins, cedar coasters for guests tied with jute twine.  Continuing with the theme, clusters of cedar candle holders, tied with jute and drilled out holes for the tealights. All wood supplied by a huge cedar tree that fell across our road this past winter.

A party would not be a party without desserts. Once again different tiers of cedar held the many different kinds of cupcakes all made from beer, except the rootbeer floats. Apple cider, Guinness, Beer & Bacon, rootbeer float cupcakes all were a huge hit. Its hard to decide which was the best! Along with the Irish Bombs that oozed with 3 different kinds of alcohol, Beer chocolate chip cookies, and one cannot forget the birthday cake which was Black Forest. And many other goodies.

Dress your own popcorn with different flavors. Non alcoholic drinks, personalized water labels and Keep Calm and Drink Beer sign.

And the survival bag. Filled with supplies to cure a hangover.
